In a significant shift back to meritocracy, Bangladesh’s National University (NU) has reinstated the entrance examination system for undergraduate (Honours) admissions after a decade-long hiatus.

The NU Honours Admission Test was conducted on May 31, 2025, between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, across 879 centers in all 64 districts.

A total of 560,595 candidates appeared, vying for approximately 440,000 seats.

📢 Official Announcement
At a press conference held on June 26, 2025, in the NU ICT Building, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Amanullah, alongside senior officials, emphasized the move as a step toward ensuring fairness:
“This year, we've changed that perception. After ten years, we've brought back the admission test to ensure merit-based selection.”
He challenged the criticism of past GPA-only admissions, stating that now, no one can say students are admitted without evaluation.
