The Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is an emergency service responsible for firefighting and rescue on land and rivers. The department operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It provides an emergency ambulance service and gives fire protection advice to the public. In 1982 "Fire Service" the fire defence agency and "Civil Defence" the unarmed rescue force and the general rescue force, was amalgamated into Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence Chakrir  Khobor :
